A Wallet For me

I have been working on another travel wallet for me

I used some french general fabric  and things were going well i had finished it and went to iron it

Oh no i got some dirty marks on it from the water coming out of the iron,so i just wet those spots and used sard soap to get the marks off, then i went down to the kitchen and then came back and this is what was looking at me,i could've cried,i will not stitch with another cottage garden thread till i have washed it.

So after soaking it with salt and vinager and water it came up pretty good BUT

This is the back view with the pocket, this is a lovely pattern by Natalie Bird of The Birdhouse the pattern is in the July issue of Homespun 2015

Around the magnetic closures the fabric has got rust on it,oh boy this wallet will be the death of me,lol, it is going to have to stay this way as i dont want to make anymore and it will do the job that i made it for ,so a deep breath and  onto the next project.

Hope your day is a good one.
Cheers Shez xx

  1. Not nice when the threads bleeds. At least you where able to sort that, even if it caused a small rust problem. Good for you to keep trying and can still use your lovely progect. :) Happy Stitching.

  7. It's lovely Shez and I'm glad that it turned out okay after the vinegar. I love this project and i remember when I saw it thinking that I should make it... thanks for the reminder (and the exact issue where to go and find it again!!)

  8. Oh you poor thing, you're having so much trouble with your threads. I use DMC and never have trouble... but after all that stress it still looks lovely, so just enjoy :) xx

  9. Oh how upsetting!! Good save. It looks pretty good from where I’m sitting and of course you know it will be completely unique. :-)

  10. Still beautiful Shez....that is one of my favourite designs in FG. Funny thing....I have washed strands drying on paper towel at the moment. Not a run or anything...weird how some do it and others don't!

  11. How annoying! Red seems to be the culprit. Looks beautiful though and you did save the look of it.

  12. Oh dear! I feel your frustration you poor thing. JUst when you think you are achieving something it goes pear shaped. Looks great now. Glad the salt and vinegar worked. I shall remember that.

  16. What a pretty wallet Shez. Such a shame about those threads - I learnt my lesson some time ago with them! I hope you enjoy using it and travel to some lovely places. xx

  17. Oh no! I was so pleased to see you making a wallet for yourself and am so disappointed with all the problems you have had. It does look lovely and I hope it is useful!!

  18. Oh Shez that is so pretty, but all the problems - I hate when floss runs, and now rust around the magnetic closures! I must say you got out the red darn well with your treatment.

  19. How disappointing for you, but it is still lovely. One of those things that no one will notice if you don't show them. Such a nice design. You say you won't use Cottage Garden Threads unless you wash them. I think I just wouldn't use them. I bet you can't wait to be using you wallet for its intended purpose.
