On The Road to Recovery

This pic is just before they set my leg on Monday night before my op Tuesday morning, the blood parts are were my broken bones stuck out.

A week later i am on the mend it will be a 6 month recovery period, with my screws coming out in 3 months.
I have been very lucky as a lot of people that have had a compound injury in their foot have had broken wrists as well, guess what i can still stitch, lol,i did a bit for the first time today,i had been very sick for 4 days as i had bad reactions to the drugs that i was given, but all is better now and i can eat again.

I am so looking forward to the pics from my buddies in America, got a message from Lynnie and Barb today which lifted my spirits,so now i will follow there adventure through pics and cant wait to hear their wonderful stories when they get back.
Looking on the positive side i wasnt meant to go this time, but hopefully another time i will get the chance.

Thankyou everyone for the love and hugs you have sent to me and also all the phone calls ,they have all meant the world to me.

Cheers and lots of love
Shez xx

  6. Oh no! How disappointing for you, but aren't you lucky it didn't happen while you were away. I'm sure your friends will keep you up to date on their happenings, just whetting your appetite to get over there another time. As you said, you can get lots of stitching done, and not feel the slightest bit guilty about it. Take care my friend and I hope you mend quickly.

Boy there should've been a warning on that first pic for the squeamish, so sorry to hear of your accident and that you have missed out on your trip.
Speedy recovery and a big consolation not hurting your wrist as well!

  25. I hated to hear about your injury. Having had foot surgery myself this year, I knew your recovery would be a lot longer than mine. I'm sure you will make good use of your "Lay Up" time.

  30. Oh my gosh Shez, I am so very sorry to read about your nasty injury - you certainly did a thorough job of it!
Do take care, heed the advice of your Docs, get those pain drugs into yourself, & know that all your blog friends are thinking of you.
What a terrible shame that you missed the USA trip; there will be other opportunities I'm sure.
You take care & I'm sending you heaps of healing hugs xx

  34. Ouch, they looks so painful. I am glad you are feeling better after the drug reaction (that happens to me too), and while six months is a looooong time, you have a lovely positive attitude. Lots of stitching, and reading...

  36. Good to hear that you are at home and on the way to recovery. Sounds as though you have a good hospital and doctors nearby. Frustrating recovery time but I´m sure you will put the time to good use. hugs

  37. Oh Shez. I haven't caught up on blogs for a while and just saw this! I'm so shocked and feel terrible for you. I'm glad to read you are feeling better. Gosh - how on earth did it happen? Hope you had a good surgeon. My best friends hubby is an orthopaedic surgeon who specialises in ankles and sound like you would have given any surgeon some work there. Thank god for Internet shopping and stitching. I'm sure you'll find plenty to keep you busy as you recover. Thinking of you and wish you a speedy recovery. Xo
